Courtenay Studios space for hire

Our Courtenay Place photography studio is available for hire:

• Central Wellington CBD location, great light and atmosphere
  
• Studio is available for hire during the day and evening, Monday-Saturday. Sundays are available for our regular clients only

• Shooting area approx. 8.5m x 4.8m with a high ceiling, sloping from 3.7 to 4.5m - see layout below
  
• Access is by the front entrance on Courtenay Place only. The studio is on the 1st floor with gentle stairs, but there is no lift or disabled access
• Keys for the building and studio are available by arrangement for after-hours access
• Parking: there are 4 parallel parks just outside that are free to use for 30 minutes only. There is plenty of metered parking on nearby streets (Courtenay Place, Allen & Blair Streets). There is no private or reserved parking, sorry. There's a loading zone right outside
• Assistance with initial setup is free
• Hire fee all inclusive. no extra charges for use of lighting equipment, etc, but see below for background paper use (which is free as long as it remains unmarked)
• Can be used for video or TV studio for interviews etc, but the room is not soundproof - you will get background noise. We have basic LED lighting available, but currently we don't have professional-level continuous lights
• Daylight shooting by window light is a good option that is proving popular
• 2 sets of window blinds: diffusion and blackout
• Not suitable for large products or props due to access restrictions (stairs and standard-size door)
• View the studio in 3-D in this Matterport scan, made in August 2020. Nothing much has changed since.

Since opening, the studio has proved to work well for apparel and product shoots, modelling and acting portfolio shoots, profile photos, portraits, nudes and figure studies. The warmth and relaxed feel of the space immediately puts clients, models and photographers at ease, making for a relaxed and enjoyable photo shoot. It has also been used for video productions, casting, interviews, and live crosses (though the room is not designed or equipped for video shooting and is not soundproof). The central location makes it convenient and easy for people to locate and reach by public transport.
The window area is good for natural light shooting as well, particularly for portraits, and diffusion and blackout blinds are fitted.
